A gathering on a magical barefoot jungle island on the Zambezi River,
50km up from the spectacular Victoria Falls.
On Saturday September 13th
2008, over 350,000 people in more than 300 cities & 50 nations will come
together for the 12th annual EARTHDANCE
~ the Global Dance Festival for Peace
The theme this year is
EARTH
EarthDance has shown how the potent combination of music, dance, drums &
technology can be harnessed for positive, humanitarian aims. For one night all
around the globe, people join together to dance as one global community, united
with a common vision for peace.
Zambia is anchoring the energy in the middle of Africa.
The blueprint for Earthdance is simple, it's a day when the world can unite
through the universal platform of music and dance to affirm peace and celebrate
cultural diversity.
One highlight of EarthDance is a simultaneous link-up, when every event across
the world joins together for a 4-minute Prayer for Peace ~ which will be 1am Central Africa time ~ early morning in the Australian rainforest,
midnight in London, and sunrise over the Himalayas. The Prayer for Peace
meditation is a profound and powerful unifying moment.
Now, more than ever
- we need to hold a vision of
a new peaceful, loving world.
