Getting
to the Island
- From
Livingstone: If you have a 4WD, you can follow the
convoy leaving from Ali's Vegetarian Cafe at 2pm Friday 15th
and park your vehicle on the mainland. Mokoro onto
island on a donation basis for polers. Otherwise
buses will be leaving the cafe at 2pm and a transfer fee
will apply (tba)
- From Lusaka:
Buses from Lusaka to Livingstone leave everyday from
either the main bus station or from Farmers House on
Cairo Rd (Zambian Safari Company) - approx $20 each way.
Be at the African Visions Vegetarian Cafe on Mosi-oa
Tunya by 2pm for transfer to the island. Transfer fee
will apply.
- From
Botswana: From Kasane/Kazungulu border - If
you are in a 4WD, travel 18kms from border and wait at
Transmitter tower at 3pm Friday afternoon to meet
convoy. If not, get to Livingstone by 2pm Friday at the
Veg Cafe in Mosi oa Tunya Rd for transfer to island.
- From
Johannesburg: Drive, fly or take a bus.
SAA flies on Thursdays and Mondays at 2.10pm from R860
each way if you book soon, Nationwide flies Jhb-Liv
twice everyday - R2540 return.
Get to Mosi-oa-Tunya Rd (the main drag) and ask for
Ali's Vegetarian Cafe. Be there by 2pm Friday for
transfer to Island. See

- From Abroad:
Make your way to Lusaka (then fly or take bus to
Livingstone) or Johannesburg. (Flights from Johannesburg
to Livingstone everyday) Once in Livingstone, get
to Mosi-oa-Tunya Rd (the main road) and ask for Ali's
Vegetarian Cafe. Be there by 2pm Friday for transfer to
Island. See
